- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Just in case you think you can write off the responses to your actions as coming from vegans or animal activists, here's one from a farmer. I would be incandescent to find out the animals I had raised have been treated this way by your plant. As a consumer I am revolted and repulsed by the way you operate. As a member of the public I find your inability to treat the animals at your plant with dignity and respect as contemptible. If I can engineer a humane, painless death on my farm, how can you, with your equipment and machinery, not do even better ? You let down the meat industry, your community and people everywhere who trust that we can do it right. You let down the animals who were in your care for their last hours, and their suffering should be weighing heavily on you, it should keep you awake at night. There are no excuses, no justifications and no explaining away. If you cannot do better, if you cannot end the life of an animal with compassion, you should get out of the industry.
